At a hotel/B&B:

  1. Never leave your luggage unattended.
  2. Store valuables in the hotel’s safety deposit box.
  3. Keep your room locked, whether you’re in it or not.  For added peace of mind, supplement it with the Securadoor Key Lock system.
  4. If someone knocks, check who it is before opening the door.
  5. Leave your keys at the reception desk when leaving the hotel.

In the street:

  1. Avoid flashy displays of expensive jewellery, cameras and other valuables.
  2. It is definitely not advisable to carry large sums of money around, rather use your debit or credit card.
  3. At night, steer clear of dark, isolated areas.
  4. It is better to explore in groups and to stick to well-lit, busy streets.
  5. Plan your route beforehand.

In a car:

  1. Plan your route in advance and if you are in doubt about the safety of an area, phone a police station for advice.
  2. Keep the car doors locked and the windows up at all times.
  3. Lock valuable items in the boot.
  4. At night, park in well-lit areas.
  5. Never pick up strangers.
